Helping Find a Cure for Diabetes

Juvenile Diabetes Research FoundationExceed's recent donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) will help this team of volunteers fund their ongoing research to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

Around the world, type 1 diabetes in children is rising at an alarming rate. More and more children and their families are exposed to the complications of this disease which can include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, and amputation.

“We became aware of the work of the JDRF through our relationship with Aberdeen-based Talisman Energy” says Ian Mills, Company Director of Exceed. “We were very impressed with the work done by the JDRF, especially as they fund most of their research projects through fundraising.”

JDRF is affiliated with US-based JDRF International, and is the largest voluntary health organisation worldwide. JDRF is the only organisation worldwide whose primary aim is to find a cure for type 1 diabetes. Having invested over £600 million into research projects, their efforts have already resulted in significant breakthroughs benefiting individuals and families living with type 1 diabetes.

Exceed’s charitable donation fund is a matching fund to which Exceed employees contribute voluntarily on a monthly basis. Employee contributions are matched dollar for dollar by the company.

The fund supports various initiatives in the UK as well as in the US and Southern Africa. Most recipients are brought forward by Exceed coaches who are actively involved in identifying opportunities in the various countries where Exceed operates.
