Ian Mills

Ian Mills, Exceed’s founding director, grew up in Dublin, Ireland and trained as a Marine Engineer.

After four years as a Marine Engineer, Ian transferred into the Oil and Gas industry in 1985.  He joined Shell International and trained as a Drilling Engineer / Drilling Supervisor, completing the Shell Round 1 and 2 training program. During his tenure with Shell he worked in Holland, UK North Sea, Syria, Canada and Norway.

In 1998, Ian left Shell to work as a Drilling consultant for BP in Norway. Ian's career at BP includes the role of Technical Limit leader for the Eastern hemisphere, supporting the standardization of the Wells Technical Limit & Knowledge Management initiatives.

Ian understands how to motivate multi-discipline teams and deliver against business and HSE expectations.  This ability, combined with his track record in performance improvement, lead him to found Exceed in January 2005.

In June 2009, Exceed expanded with the addition of a new deepwater division and two additional directors.  The division's world class deepwater well delivery service covers the spectrum from wells design and exploration through to completion.

Exceed's mission is to be the world’s premier deepwater specialists who develop deepwater prospects at the lowest possible cost without damage to people,environment or reputation.

Exceed is operated out of Aberdeen, Scotland, where Ian lives with his wife and their four sons.
