03 - Developing Internal Lean Capability
The key word for any business investing in improvement initiatives is sustainability. Is the initiative you’re about to invest in sustainable? What will happen when the experts leave? Will they leave behind embedded capability?
It’s a valid question and one that many of our customers ask before committing to a Lean Kaizen implementation.
Our answer: absolutely.
As part of our commitment to transfer skills and help our client transform their business into a Lean organisation, we have developed a series of Lean Kaizen training sessions designed to ensure sustainability. From an initial 1-day awareness session to a 3-day “Train the Trainer” workshop, our training sessions are tailored to give your people upfront confidence in the Lean Kaizen approach as well as developing the internal competence required to continue your Lean journey once we’ve left.
Our Lean Kaizen training incorporates the fundamentals for success and allows participants opportunities to connect them to their own business reality. Through a mixture of tutorials, group exercises, discussions, debate and a measure of fun, participants will gain an understanding and confidence about the power and intent of Lean Kaizen as a methodology.
For the 3-day programme, which is focused particularly on would-be Kaizen Blitz facilitators and “change leaders”, training interventions are blended with opportunities to work alongside and be mentored by one of our Lean Kaizen coaches.
As an organisation, our reputation is only as good as our last project; the more reason for us to ensure that the project’s legacy lasts longer than a few weeks post-implementation. Our experience has shown that training and developing internal capability significantly increases project sustainability. Additionally, it accelerates your Lean journey by building understanding, acceptance, and that crucial internal capacity to achieve more.
Topics covered in our training interventions include:
- Applying Lean Principles
- Running Kaizen Blitz events
- The 8 Wastes
- Understanding the Value Stream
- Value Stream Mapping
- Toolkit for success
Delivery models, duration and costs vary depending on training objectives. Courses are often bespoke, developed specifically to client need. For more information, please contact us.
