Philip Oliver

philip oliverPhil is a passionate advocate of improvement who likes to challenge the status quo. After graduating from University of Cape Town (UCT) with a BSc Hons in Geomatics, Phil applied his skills as an engineer, team leader, facilitator and coach on a number of corporate and private sector engagements. Phil takes a systemic view of business – considering the interaction of the parts with the whole – an approach which he formalised during 18 months of post-graduate level training, also at UCT. He has worked with clients in advertising, agriculture, financial services, and IT.

An accredited Associate Coach of the Graduate School of Business, Cape Town, Phil joined XCD's team as a performance coach at the start of 2007, bringing with him considerable industrial experience from the mining sector.

Naturally a creative person, Phil is accredited in Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats methods of productive thinking. Phil has a love of cigars, books, good food, and travelling with his wife, Julia. Once a silver medallist in the Shukokai Karate style, Phil now thinks that running away to fight another day has a lot going for it. His great hope in life is to one day be in business with his son, Haydn.
