Learning Wheel: A 12-Step Implementation
Our 12-step learning wheel guides the performance improvement process implementation. The outer wheel of the circle shows the project journey, starting with leadership through to awareness of the opportunity gap, a shared vision, team participation, ownership, and – ultimately – transformation.

The inner spokes of the wheel show the implementation process, identifying the client’s operational objectives (e.g. well program) as the obvious starting point. The spokes of the wheel are customised according to client environment.
The wheel to the right shows a typical application in an offshore Oil & Gas project.
Our first step is an in-depth pre-project assessment to determine the business case for change, the performance gap and the size of the opportunity.
At the same time, the assessment creates an opportunity to begin the process of staff enrolment and identify potential barriers to change.
Exceed's hands-on role in the operation begins with establishing a common mission and project identity; this ensures that all stakeholders (operator, contractor and service providers) are united under one mission. From there, the remaining elements of the learning wheel are rolled out at the appropriate time with the guidance and support of the operational leadership team.
