TL Workshops
Technical Limit methodology is built upon early involvement of those who are closest to the fire. The purpose of Technical Limit workshops is to revisit the agreed-upon plan of execution from an operational perspective. Does the plan really represent an improvement on current performance? Does the team have information that could improve upon the plan or present barriers for execution? The purpose of this phase is pre-job learning as well as to ensure team engagement and commitment to a team target.
Plan execution is measured against the Technical Limit set by the team. Actual performance is measured in the same rigorous detail as the pre-project data analysis. Comparing actual performance to expected performance forms the basis for observations which are documented as part of the continuous improvement process.
Learning is fundamental to achieving continuous improvement. Most of the learning takes place during plan execution and is captured in the form of lessons learnt. After-Action Reviews (AAR) are built into the Technical Limit process to ensure that the learning is not forgotten with the completion of the project, but are discussed while still relevant and the appropriate lessons are learnt and documented. Actions based on lessons learnt are allocated and tracked to conclusion. Appropriate lessons are shared across other similar projects.
