West Africa Contract Win Worth Potential $1million-plus to Exceed
News release – December 2009
Exceed recently secured a Performance Improvement contract with a potential value of $1million. The contract with leading operator Tullow Oil plc involves Exceed providing an inclusive performance management service. As part of the project, Exceed will supply two performance coaches to support offshore drilling operations on Tullow’s Jubilee project.
The Jubilee field, Tullow’s largest-ever discovery is situated offshore Ghana and has an ultimate upside potential of 1.8 billion barrels.
Phase One of the development plan will focus on the core area of the field utilising a 120,000 bopd FPSO and a subsea development scheme. The project is on target for first production in the second half of 2010.
Working on a deepwater semi-submersible, Exceed’s coaches will support the offshore team in the transition from drilling to completion installation. Their aim will be to positively contribute to the HSE agenda and support the team to continuously improving drilling and cost performance to maximise the field productivity.
A previous similar project in the region helped an operator save more than $65million in 18 months by improving drilling productive time from 72% to 88% increasing the wells drilled from the planned 7 to 9 actually completed.
Exceed founder and director Ian Mills, who has 25 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry, including senior drilling roles at Shell and BP, said: “Our philosophy is that every time we do something, we should do it better than the last time. We must be able to repeat our successes and learn from our mistakes. Our coaches have an excellent track record of achieving step changes by going back to basics with rig teams to help them embrace new ways of working. We don’t change technology, introduce new systems or make other capital investments, we simply work with the most important asset, the rig team."
“Most performance improvement companies offer traditional management consulting. Exceed offers an integrated approach with a team whose backgrounds combine traditional consulting with hands-on oil field expertise. As a result, we have developed a unique offering that gives clients the best of both worlds and delivers clear, quantifiable benefits.
“We always carry out detailed project planning in advance and have clearly defined exit strategies, focused on delivering an immediate return on investment and long-term, sustainable improvements within the client’s organisation.”
