BASIC FUNCTION:             

Engineering, planning, daily support, close out reporting and time and cost estimating and analysis for drilling, completions, subsea and well test operations.



  • Design a well, or, working from designs provided by a Senior Drilling Engineer, create a well programme in compliance with the Exceed Management System by analysing offset data, generating and evaluation design options, assessing risk, preparing detailed design and programme documents, preparing Examination and Notification/Consent applications, preparing time and cost estimates, procuring services, equipment and materials and co-ordinating suppliers and service providers to meet the Client objectives for drilling, completing or working over the well
  • Assist in the preparation of commercial proposals. Provide technical support for the pre-contract Invitation to Tender and tender evaluation processes, with subsequent technical support for the commercial contract drafting
  • During the project operations, pro-actively manage the contract in conjunction with the Senior Drilling Engineer and/or Wells Project Manager ensuring technical & commercial compliance
  • Prepare procurement documentation for the recommendation of specific services, equipment and personnel
  • Preparation of logistics and accounts documentation as per Exceed management system
  • Issue programme amendments as required, ensuring adequate peer review, risk assessments and approval authority
  • Compile weekly summary of well operations for the UK HSE
  • Participate in the daily calls to the rig and assist the project team in organising support activities
  • Compile a comprehensive End-Of-Well Report with operational learnings captured and implemented
  • Compile a well file (hard copy and electronic) with data accumulated during the well construction phase
  • Act as onshore focal point for Performance monitoring and improvement activities
  • Ensure any instances of non-productive time are fully investigated and closed out (determine root cause, define actions to prevent recurrence)
  • Participate in weekend duty and Emergency Response rotas if required



  • University Engineering Degree (essential)
  • Graduate Development Programme or equivalent (preferred)



  • Drilling Engineering: 2-5 years
  • Offshore Wellsite Engineering: 1 year (desirable)
