We’re incredibly proud of Becky’s Home – the Ghanian orphanage built and supported by the EXCEED Trust.

Part of Becky’s Foundation which also operates the local school, the majority of the children who live there were young - pre- and primary school age - when the Home was established. But time flies – and that’s especially true when you’re watching kids grow up.

Right now, 10 of the home’s 60 residents are boarding at high school and we’re supporting them in this next stage of their education by providing them with the educational materials, the pocket money and the snacks (of course!) that every high school child needs to get the job done and to enjoy it.

For those who are studying vocational subjects, we’re also providing them with the tools required.

Our aim is to ensure that all Becky’s Home children have the means by which to enter university, if they wish, and several have already shared with us their ambition to study overseas. We’re doing all we can to help them prepare for scholarship opportunities, providing practical support from an educational perspective as well as advice from our in-country manager, Kwaku Darko-Mensah. Computers are enabling the kids to research their homework online, and those studying IT in high school to practice their coding.

In November the Home celebrated its 10th anniversary. We supported the celebratory programme, which lasted several days and included singing and dancing, games, a feast, a Certificate of Merit awards ceremony – and even a float which made its way around town!

In other words, a proper celebration to mark the critical work Becky’s Foundation undertakes and our pride in supporting these incredible youngsters on their life journey.
